DMU Faculty Speaks at an International Pharmacy Seminar on The Role Marine Biodiversity in Future Medicines

August 6, 2026, Prof. Naglaa Gamil Shehab, Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at College of Pharmacy, DUM, represented DMU as an invited speaker at the International Seminar and Call for Paper Pharmacy 2026, held on August 6, 2026, at University17 Agustus 1945 Jakarta, Indonesia.

The international event brought together distinguished speakers, researchers, and attendees from different countries to exchange knowledge and recent advances in pharmaceutical sciences.

Prof. Naglaa delivered a presentation entitled “Recent Advances in Marine Biota for Pharmaceutical Applications.

Her presentation highlighted the remarkable potential of marine biodiversity as a rich and still underexplored source of novel bioactive compounds and future drug candidates.

She emphasized the need for scientists to expand research on marine organisms as promising resources for drug discovery and pharmaceutical innovation.

Special attention was given to marine-derived natural products and their potential applications in the development of new therapeutic agents.

Prof. Naglaa also discussed how modern biotechnology approaches are transforming the discovery and development of marine-derived pharmaceuticals.

She highlighted the importance of integrating marine natural-product research with advanced biotechnology to accelerate the identification of valuable bioactive molecules.

The seminar provided an excellent platform for international scientific exchange, collaboration, and discussion on emerging opportunities in pharmacy and drug discovery.
