Dubai Medical University – College of Pharmacy Participates at the 84th FIP World Congress 2026

September 4, 2026 – Professor Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor & Dean participated in the largest congregation of pharmacists and pharmacy academicians in the world. This year the Congress convened for the 84th time in Montreal, Canada.

Prof. Khalifa participated in the Global Academic Leadership Forum as a panelist. The discussion focused on the plans and challenges for curriculum changes in a world where the healthcare landscape is undergoing changes that can be described as revolutionary.

Prof. Khalifa Also delivered a presentation and workshop on Motivational interviewing for patients with stigma. In his presentation, he highlighted the unique role of pharmacists as they awaken the internal motivation of patients with stigma while respecting their autonomy and building trust.

Other interesting highlights of the Congress include pharmacist-led immunization, independent prescribing, surgical pharmacy, counterfeit and substandard medications.

Prof. Khalifa commented: ”The Congress was a great opportunity for sharing best practices, learning from the rest of the world and a reassurance that at Dubai Medical University we are not only on the right track, we are leading the change in several pharmacy domains.”
