Dubai Medical University (DMU) continues to expand its global academic partnerships through a series of high-level engagements with six leading medical institutions in India.
Professor Hossam Hamdy, Professor of Surgery and Medical Education at Dubai Medical University and an internationally recognised leader in health professions education, was invited to deliver keynote lectures and conduct academic engagements from the period July 24th – 30th 2026, at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi; Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital (VMMC & SJH), New Delhi; King George’s Medical University, Lucknow; JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru; Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education & Research (SDUAHER), Kolar; and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi.
During his visits, Professor Hamdy shared his vision on the future of health professions education in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), highlighting how AI is transforming medical education, clinical practice, and healthcare systems worldwide.
His presentations emphasised that AI should be viewed not merely as a technological innovation, but as a transformative force that is reshaping the entire medical education ecosystem. He discussed the need to redesign curricula, assessment strategies, faculty development, and institutional governance to prepare graduates for an AI-enabled healthcare environment while preserving the human values that remain central to medical practice, including compassion, professionalism, ethical judgement, and patient-centred care.
The academic visits also provided valuable opportunities to strengthen institutional relationships and explore future collaborations in medical education, faculty development, student training, and research. Several discussions focused on developing new partnerships and expanding existing collaborations between DMU and leading Indian medical universities, Which will allow students ad faculty exchange, collaboration in research and post-graduate studies.
These engagements reflect Dubai Medical University’s continued commitment to international collaboration, educational innovation, and the advancement of health professions education, reinforcing its position as a global partner in shaping the future of healthcare education.
