The Student Success Center (SSC) at the College of Pharmacy is dedicated to supporting students throughout their academic journey and fostering their personal and professional development. As a central hub for student support, the SSC provides a welcoming environment where students can seek guidance on academic, personal, and university-related matters.
The SSC works proactively to promote student success by monitoring attendance and academic progress, identifying students who may benefit from additional support, and collaborating closely with faculty members, academic departments, and university services. Through timely interventions, personalized guidance, and student-centered initiatives, the SSC helps students overcome challenges, remain engaged in their studies, and achieve their full potential.

Academic mentorship is an integral part of our student support system, providing students with continuous academic guidance, personalized support, and encouragement throughout their studies.
Every student is assigned a faculty mentor to provide ongoing academic guidance and support. Faculty mentors meet regularly with students to discuss academic performance, assist with academic planning, monitor academic progress, help them set academic and professional goals, and address any personal or academic challenges that may affect their success. They also support students in adjusting to university life, making informed academic decisions, understanding university requirements, and accessing appropriate university resources when needed.
The Student Success Center works closely with students, faculty mentors, and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to identify challenges and develop effective strategies for academic success. Through continuous mentoring, personalized support, early intervention, and collaborative support, the SSC and faculty mentors help students stay on track, achieve their academic goals, and make the most of their university experience.
The Learning Enhancement and Peer Support (LEAP) Program is a structured, student-led peer tutoring initiative at the COP. LEAP fosters a collaborative and inclusive learning environment where students support one another in strengthening their understanding of course material, developing effective study strategies, and building confidence in their learning.
LEAP tutors are selected through a structured, merit-based process and receive formal training in effective tutoring practices, communication skills, learning strategies, professionalism, and academic integrity before supporting their peers. Working under faculty supervision, they provide high-quality academic support while promoting ethical and collaborative learning.
The program offers a variety of learning formats, including one-to-one tutoring, small-group tutoring, study sessions, and workshops. Through LEAP, students receive guidance from trained peer tutors who help reinforce key concepts, improve study habits, develop critical thinking skills, and enhance overall academic success. At the same time, the program provides peer tutors with valuable opportunities to develop leadership, communication, teaching, and professional skills.
The SSC manages student attendance records and reviews absence excuses in learning and assessment sessions, in accordance with university policies. By maintaining accurate records, the SSC helps students stay on track with their studies and ensures transparency in attendance monitoring.
Attendance alerts are issued regularly to students whose attendance falls below the required threshold, and faculty mentors are informed to facilitate timely follow-up, guidance, and support. Through proactive attendance monitoring and early intervention, the SSC helps students remain engaged in their studies and maintain satisfactory academic progress.
The SSC provides students with a fair, transparent, and supportive process to raise concerns and seek resolution for academic matters. Students are encouraged to resolve concerns informally whenever possible by discussing the matter with the relevant faculty or staff member. If the issue cannot be resolved, a formal grievance or appeal may be submitted through the Student Voice Form.
The SSC guides students throughout the process, ensuring that grievances and appeals are reviewed in accordance with University policies and referred to the appropriate individuals or committees when required. Students are informed of the outcome through the University's established procedures. If they are dissatisfied with the outcome of a grievance, they may submit an appeal in accordance with the University's Grievances and Appeals Policy.

Students are also encouraged to submit suggestions through the Student Voice Form to enhance academic programs, student services, university facilities, and the overall student experience. Student feedback is highly valued and plays an important role in supporting the University's commitment to continuous quality improvement.
Student Suggestions
The Student Success Center (SSC) promotes a culture of academic integrity, professionalism, ethical behavior, and responsible conduct among students. The SSC provides guidance on University policies and helps students understand their rights, responsibilities, and the expectations of the DMU community.
The SSC also supports students by providing guidance on academic integrity and student conduct matters, helping them understand University procedures, and directing them to appropriate resources when needed. In addition, the SSC facilitates the implementation of the Student Misconduct and Academic Integrity Policy by assisting with the reporting, documentation, and follow-up of cases in accordance with University procedures.
The Student Success Center (SSC) provides comprehensive career advising services to help students explore career options, develop professional skills, and prepare for a successful transition into the workforce. Through individual and group career advising sessions, students receive personalized guidance on career planning, goal setting, resume and interview preparation, and professional development.
The SSC also organizes career readiness workshops, employer engagement events, and job fairs to connect students with potential employers and enhance their employability. In collaboration with internship and placement coordinators, employers, and professional organizations, the SSC helps identify internship, training, and potential employment opportunities for students, supporting their career growth and lifelong professional success.
The SSC is committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed by providing guidance and facilitating access to additional support services when needed. The SSC works closely with students and relevant University departments to identify individual needs and coordinate appropriate support throughout the student's academic journey.
