Biography

Dr. Rana Sammour is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Dubai Medical University. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honors, two master’s degrees in Pharmaceutical Technology and Health Administration, and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology.

Her academic expertise includes pharmaceutics, biopharmaceutics, pharmaceutical technology, novel drug delivery systems, and pharmacy education. Her research focuses on advanced drug delivery systems, including proniosomes, nanocarriers, microsponges, buccal films, in situ gels, and strategies to improve drug solubility, stability, and bioavailability.

Dr. Sammour has published several peer-reviewed research articles and supervised student research projects in pharmaceutical formulation, and drug delivery. She is also actively involved in academic leadership, curriculum development, student affairs, academic advising, and institutional committees.

Her current interests include integrating artificial intelligence and emerging technologies into pharmaceutical sciences, drug delivery research, and higher education to support innovation and future-ready pharmacy graduates.
