Student Success Center
The Student Success Center (SSC) at the College of Nursing serves as a central hub for student support and guidance. It is designed to support students throughout their academic journey and personal growth by providing a supportive environment where they can seek assistance with academic, personal, or university-related concerns.
The SSC monitors student attendance and academic progress, identifies students who may require additional support, and works closely with students, faculty, academic programs, and university services to help students overcome challenges, stay engaged, and succeed in their studies. Through its various services, the SSC ensures that every student receives the guidance, assistance, and motivation needed to achieve academic success and personal development. These are in line with the UAE's strategic direction of promoting happiness and positivity.

The Student Success Center (SSC) is committed to supporting students throughout their academic journey by regularly monitoring academic progress and identifying students who may be at risk of academic difficulty. Through early intervention and personalized support, the SSC works closely with students, faculty mentors, and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to identify challenges and develop effective strategies for academic success.
As part of this support system, every student is assigned a faculty mentor who provides individualized academic guidance throughout their studies. Faculty mentors regularly monitor students' progress, meet with them to discuss academic performance, assist with academic planning, and help address any personal or academic challenges that may affect their success. They also support students in adjusting to university life, making informed academic decisions, and accessing appropriate university resources when needed.
Through continuous mentoring, early intervention, and collaborative support, the SSC and faculty mentors help students stay on track, achieve their academic goals, and make the most of their university experience.
The SSC organizes peer tutoring programs designed to create an inclusive learning community where students support each other in strengthening their understanding of course material and developing effective study strategies.
Peer tutoring at DMU is delivered through structured, student-led initiatives under faculty supervision. The program is offered in a variety of learning formats, including one-to-one tutoring, small-group tutoring, study sessions, and workshops.
Senior or high-achieving students support their colleagues in understanding challenging subjects, strengthening their knowledge, improving study habits, and building confidence in their learning.
The SSC manages student attendance records and reviews absence excuses in learning and assessment sessions, in accordance with university policies. By maintaining accurate records, the SSC helps students stay on track with their studies and ensures transparency in attendance monitoring.
Attendance alerts are sent regularly to students, and academic mentors are kept informed of attendance concerns to facilitate timely follow-up and support when needed.
Absence & Missed Assessment Submission
Students may sometimes face issues related to their academic or university experience. The SSC provides a clear process to submit grievances or appeals in a safe and fair environment. This ensures that student concerns are heard and addressed according to DMU policies. The SSC also guides students through the process and directs them to the appropriate individuals or committees when needed.
Student Grievances and Appeals Submission
The SSC promotes a culture of academic integrity, professionalism, and responsible conduct among students. The SSC provides guidance on university policies and supports students in understanding and meeting the expectations of the DMU community.
The SSC also supports the implementation of the Student Misconduct and Academic Integrity Policy by assisting with the reporting, documentation, and follow-up of cases in accordance with university procedures. Students may seek guidance from the SSC regarding academic integrity and student conduct matters at any stage of the process.
The Student Success Center (SSC) provides comprehensive career advising services to help students explore career options, develop professional skills, and prepare for a successful transition into the workforce. Through individual and group career advising sessions, students receive personalized guidance on career planning, goal setting, resume and interview preparation, and professional development.
The SSC also organizes career readiness workshops, employer engagement events, and job fairs to connect students with potential employers and enhance their employability. In collaboration with internship and placement coordinators, employers, and professional organizations, the SSC helps identify internship, training, and potential employment opportunities for students, supporting their career growth and lifelong professional success.
