Dubai Medical University College of Pharmacy Concludes WinTernship 2026 in Integrative Medicine

The College of Pharmacy at Dubai Medical University (DMU) successfully conducted the Winter Internship “WinTernship 2026”, a one-week intensive program held from 5–9 January, under the supervision of Dr. Naglaa Saad, Head of the Integrative Medicine Department and Assistant Dean – Quality & Accreditation.

The internship brought together students from the Colleges of Pharmacy, Medicine, and Nursing, underscoring DMU’s commitment to interprofessional education (IPE) and collaborative healthcare training. The program provided focused, evidence-based exposure to integrative and complementary medicine.

Throughout the week, students engaged in interactive workshops and hands-on sessions covering herbal medicine, acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and cupping therapy, with particular emphasis on evidence-based herbal medicine and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in herbal formulation design and optimization.

A key component of WinTernship 2026 was the interprofessional group project, in which mixed student teams identified healthcare needs and developed AI-informed, evidence-based herbal product concepts, fostering collaboration, clinical reasoning, innovation, and communication skills.

Through WinTernship 2026, Dubai Medical University continues to demonstrate leadership in integrative medicine education. Such multidisciplinary internships integrating traditional medicine, modern science, AI, and interprofessional learning remain unique to DMU, both regionally and nationally.
