The College of Medicine (COM), Dubai Medical University, was represented by Dr Shifan Khanday, Dr Khaled Elmasry and Dr Sara Safwat at the Cadaver and Human Tissue Workshop organised by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and held at the Dubai Health Auditorium.

Under the directives of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr Shifan Khanday presented the College’s cadaver-handling protocol and highlighted COM’s institutional outreach and commitment to maintaining robust policies for the ethical, safe and legally compliant management of cadavers and human tissues.

The workshop brought together representatives from key academic, healthcare and government stakeholders, including Dubai Police, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, HAYAT–The National Programme for Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Airports, the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Knowledge, Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Dubai Medical University.

The discussions will contribute to developing a workshop consensus towards a unified governance framework for the procurement, transportation, documentation, infection screening, storage, handling and dignified disposal of cadavers and human tissues. This collaborative initiative represents an important step towards strengthening regulatory alignment, institutional accountability and best practices across academic and healthcare institutions in Dubai.
