July 31, 2026 – The DMU College of Pharmacy is proud to announce that Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist, was invited to serve as international faculty for the Core Skills in Intensive Care Pharmacotherapy Course, organized by the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM).

The intensive two-day online course brought together more than 70 healthcare professionals, including physicians, pharmacists, and nurses from across Europe and other regions of the world. The program provided participants with evidence-based updates, practical clinical insights, and multidisciplinary perspectives on the pharmacotherapeutic management of critically ill patients.

As part of the international faculty, Dr. El Ouweini contributed in two key roles. On the first day, he delivered an invited lecture titled “Glycemic Control in the ICU: Stress Hyperglycemia, Insulin Infusions, Landmark Trials, and Safe Practice,” where he reviewed the latest evidence and international guideline recommendations for managing hyperglycemia in critically ill patients. His presentation highlighted contemporary glucose targets, safe intravenous insulin infusion practices, prevention and management of hypoglycemia, and best practices for transitioning patients from intravenous to subcutaneous insulin therapy.

On the second day, Dr. El Ouweini served as a session moderator, facilitating scientific discussions and interactive learning among participants and faculty members.
