24 June, 2026, Dubai Medical University (DMU) College of Pharmacy successfully hosted a Faculty Development Seminar titled “Independent Prescribing in the United Kingdom: The Pharmacist’s Journey from Dispenser to Prescriber” on 24 June 2026.

Prior to the seminar, Dr. Nesrein Hamed, a GPhC-registered pharmacist and PhD Researcher at Aston University, United Kingdom, met with the Department of Pharmacy Practice for a focused discussion on developments in pharmacist independent prescribing, pharmacy education, and opportunities for advancing clinical pharmacy practice.

During the seminar, Dr. Nesrein shared valuable insights into the evolution of pharmacists’ roles in the UK, highlighting the journey toward independent prescribing, the regulatory framework, and its impact on patient-centered care.
