Dubai Medical University (DMU) recently hosted Dr. Abeer AlTeneiji, President of the Emirates Lifestyle & Longevity Medicine Society, registered and operating under the Emirates Medical Association in a significant visit aimed at fostering collaboration between the two institutions in the field of lifestyle medicine.
The Emirates Lifestyle and Longevity Medicine Society (ELLMS), is the first official and professional society in the UAE dedicated to advancing both lifestyle medicine and longevity science. ELLMS aims to address the root causes of chronic disease and promote strategies that optimize health span and lifespan. Through evidence-based clinical practice, research, education, and policy advocacy, they seek to integrate preventive, personalized, and regenerative approaches into the fabric of modern medicine in the UAE and the broader region.
The visit marks the beginning of a strategic partnership focused on education, research, clinical programs and outreach activities. This collaboration aligns with DMU’s ongoing efforts to integrate lifestyle as well as integrative medicine into its academic programs, reflecting the growing global emphasis on preventive healthcare and holistic patient management.
Dr. Abeer AlTeneiji expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the importance of equipping future healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to address chronic diseases through lifestyle-based interventions. She noted that such collaborations are essential to advancing healthcare outcomes and promoting longevity within the community.
Dr. Naglaa Saad, Head of the Integrative Medicine Department at DMU, commented on the initiative, stating: “This collaboration represents a key step forward in our mission to embed lifestyle and integrative medicine into healthcare education. By working closely with the Emirates Lifestyle & Longevity Medicine Society, we aim to provide our students with evidence-based, practical training that supports a more comprehensive approach to patient care.”
Professor Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs at DMU, also emphasized the importance of the partnership. He stated: “Dubai Medical University is committed to innovation in medical education. Integrating lifestyle medicine into our curricula reflects our vision to prepare graduates who are not only clinically competent but also capable of addressing the root causes of disease.”
