Dubai Medical University (DMU) has achieved a national first by securing accreditation for its Credit-Bearing Microcredential in Introduction to Herbal and Integrative Medicine from the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA).

This microcredential is designed to equip health professions education students with evidence-informed knowledge and skills in herbal and integrative medicine. Through an interprofessional approach, it introduces learners to the principles, applications, safety considerations, and evidence base of integrative healthcare practices.

Dr. Naglaa Saad, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Integrative Medicine at the College of Pharmacy, described the accreditation as an important milestone in advancing DMU’s mission to shape the future of integrative healthcare education in the UAE.

Prof. Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs and Dean of the College of Pharmacy, emphasized that the accreditation reflects the University’s continued commitment to academic excellence, educational innovation, and the development of nationally aligned programs that respond to emerging healthcare needs.

DMU continues to expand opportunities for health professions education students to develop future-ready competencies that support comprehensive, evidence-informed healthcare.
