QAIE Department Workshop on Mentorship & Course Registration

The Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness (QAIE) Department at Dubai Medical University (DMU) recently organized a university-wide workshop on Mentorship and Course Registration. The initiative aimed to strengthen student support mechanisms and streamline the course registration process across all colleges.

The session was led by Prof. Ibrahim Elsayed, Vice Chancellor of Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness, who emphasized the vital role of mentorship in guiding students throughout their academic journey. He further outlined the importance of structured course registration procedures, highlighting the need for active engagement from both students and faculty mentors to ensure academic alignment and compliance with program requirements.

Prof. Elsayed presented the multi-stage review process that governs course registration:

  • Student Course Registration – Students select courses according to their academic study plan.
  • Mentor Review and Approval – Mentors provide guidance, verify course choices, and ensure that selections are academically appropriate by reviewing the student’s assessments and transcripts.
  • College Review – The respective college validates mentor-approved course selections, ensuring consistency with academic standards and progression requirements.
  • Final Registrar Review – The Registrar’s Office conducts the final verification to confirm compliance with institutional regulations and accurate record-keeping.

The workshop underscored the significance of effective communication among students, mentors, and academic offices, ensuring that students receive the necessary academic guidance and support.
