Dubai Medical University (DMU) marked a significant milestone on 19 November 2025 by participating in the SHARE 2025 conference hosted by Monash University in Australia. The SHARE (Sharing about Healthcare Artificial intelligence Regionally) conference is designed to unite clinicians, technologists and researchers across the Indo-Pacific region, facilitating the exchange of pioneering digital health projects and applied AI in healthcare.
DMU was represented by Dr Shifan Khanday, Acting Associate Dean of Research and Head of the AI & Smart Education Unit. Dr Khanday delivered a compelling presentation titled:
“Governing the Bio-Connected Future: Ethical Framework for Internet of Bodies Technologies in the UAE.”
Her talk illuminated the pressing implications of emerging connected-body technologies for frontline healthcare professionals — especially regarding data privacy, patient autonomy, and clinical decision-support. It also spotlighted the experiences of labour and migrant-worker communities in the UAE, who often face challenges around digital literacy, access, affordability and informed consent. These insights underscored the imperative for equitable, culturally sensitive and ethically governed technology ecosystems in future healthcare systems.
By contributing to this high-level international forum, DMU reinforced its growing global presence and leadership in advancing ethical discourse, emerging technology integration, and the future of health-professions education.
