DMU and Project You Collaborate to Inspire Future Innovators through “Project Nightingale”

Dubai Medical University (DMU), in collaboration with Project You, a social enterprise dedicated to upskilling future generations, successfully hosted “Project Nightingale”, an immersive three-day workshop designed for students from Al Salam Community School.

Held from October 7–9, the program aimed to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance triage systems in emergency departments, empowering students to apply technology and empathy in healthcare innovation.

The workshop was led by DMU alumni Dr. Tasnima Tayb and Dr. Aisha Ismail, alongside Emergency Medicine Hive Co-chairpersons Dr. Shiza Ali and Asiya Mubeen. Over 60 students from Grades 8 and 9 participated in engaging sessions including:

  • A mock emergency simulation
  • An “Empathy Expedition” at the Dubai Medical University Hospital
  • Campus tours introducing the world of medical education
  • Design thinking workshops, culminating in a final showcase of AI-powered solutions developed with guidance from DMU mentors.

DMU expressed its appreciation to the Simulation Center—led by Prof. Basil and Dr. Marwa—and to Student Affairs for their unwavering support in bringing this initiative to life.

“Project Nightingale reflected the true spirit of mentorship, innovation, and community that defines Dubai Medical University,” the organizers shared. “We were inspired by the creativity and curiosity of Al Salam Community School’s students and grateful to Project You for this meaningful partnership.”

Special thanks were extended to the dedicated volunteer teams whose enthusiasm and commitment made the event a memorable success.
