Dr. Shifan Khanday is a physician, anatomist, and academic leader specializing in the integration of artificial intelligence within medical education.She holds dual doctorates—a Ph.D. from St George’s and Kingston University of London (UK) and a Doctorate in Anatomy from Sri Ramachandra Medical University —A Diplomate in Family Medicine with Royal College of Physicians ,London ,United Kingdom she also holds Master’s degrees in Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare ( Spain) and a Master’s in Health Professions Education (Maastricht University, Netherlands). A qualified Family Medicine physician with an MBA in Healthcare leadership she combines clinical insight with advanced expertise in digital transformation and higher-education innovation.
At Dubai Medical University, Dr. Khanday leads the university’s strategic transformation in AI-driven medical education, overseeing the development and governance of AI-based education and research systems. Under her direction, DMU became the first medical university in the UAE to integrate GPT-powered agents within its Learning Management System and to integrate AI in curriculum reform .She has conceptualized and implemented several institutional initiatives, including the AI Xcelerate Hackathon, AI Integration in Curriculum and Research Writing Pilot, and E-Tuesdays Innovation Series, promoting AI literacy and innovation across the academic community.
Her scholarly and leadership excellence earned her a nomination for the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education, recognizing her contributions to technology-enabled learning and equitable access to education.
Dr. Khanday is the author of Quick Revision in Anatomy (CBS Publishers, 2014) and AI and I: Basics of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare and Medical Education (2023). She has presented her research Nationally and continues to pioneer research at the intersection of healthcare, education, and emerging technologies.
Dr. Khanday has extensive teaching experience across undergraduate and postgraduate programs in medicine, nursing, and Pharmacy . Her teaching portfolio includes Anatomy, Embryology, Technology in Health and eHealth.
