The Academic Support Department, in collaboration with the Examination and Assessment Unit and the Faculty Development Team of Dubai Medical University, organized a professional development workshop titled “Effective MCQ Writing for Assessments.”
The session, conducted by Prof. Salah Eldin Kassab, engaged faculty members in an insightful discussion on the principles of constructing high-quality multiple-choice questions (MCQs) that effectively assess students’ understanding and higher-order thinking skills. The session covered best practices in question design, common pitfalls to avoid, and techniques to align MCQs with learning outcomes and assessment standards.
The interactive workshop emphasized the importance of validity, reliability, and fairness in assessments, and included practical examples and peer review exercises to enhance faculty members’ skills in MCQ development.
This initiative reflects DMU’s continued commitment to promoting excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
