In October 2025, Dubai Medical University announced the establishment of the Department of Integrative Medicine under the College of Pharmacy. The department is a university-wide initiative and is considered the first dedicated department of its kind in the UAE, reflecting DMU’s commitment to academic innovation and holistic healthcare education.

The department will serve as a center for education, research, and community engagement, bridging traditional and modern therapeutic approaches and promoting patient-centered learning.

The Department of Integrative Medicine will offer advanced courses, micro-credentials, and specialized programs in areas such as herbal and alternative medicine and complementary therapies. It will also lead research initiatives and community outreach activities to enhance awareness and promote interprofessional collaboration in integrative healthcare.

“The establishment of this department marks an important milestone in the University’s mission to integrate evidence-based complementary and modern medicine within healthcare education,” said Prof. Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs and Dean College of Pharmacy.

Aligned with DMU’s global vision, the department will pursue international collaborations with leading institutions in integrative medicine, advancing joint research, faculty exchange, and global learning opportunities that strengthen holistic healthcare education.
