
Dubai Medical University (DMU) – College of Pharmacy welcomed the Board Team of the Emirates Clinical Pharmacy Society (ECPS) to campus on December 8, 2025, for a strategic visit focused on advancing clinical pharmacy education, professional development, and practice across the United Arab Emirates.
The Emirates Clinical Pharmacy Society, a newly established national professional body under the Emirates Medical Association, is dedicated to fostering professional exchange, enhancing continuing education, and strengthening the impact of clinical pharmacists on patient care. The Society brings together clinical practitioners, educators, researchers, and students from across the UAE in pursuit of elevating pharmacy practice standards.
Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, DMU College of Pharmacy faculty member serves as the Scientific Committee Chairperson and plays a key leadership role in shaping the Society’s academic and scientific directions.
During the visit, ECPS President Dr. Saeed Hussein and the ECPS Cultural Committee Chairperson, Dr. Ghattas Abudawoud, along with Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, presented the Society’s mission, current initiatives, and potential pathways for collaboration between ECPS and DMU. Their presentation outlined various opportunities for engagement, including joint educational activities, research collaborations, faculty development initiatives, and expanded professional exposure for pharmacy students.
A significant highlight of the event was the discussion surrounding a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between DMU College of Pharmacy and ECPS. The MoU outlines a multi-faceted partnership aimed at strengthening clinical pharmacy training, supporting scholarly output, enhancing student leadership opportunities, and co-organizing national pharmacy events and conferences.
The visit represents an important milestone in aligning DMU College of Pharmacy with national goals for advancing pharmacy education and clinical practice. Strengthening ties with ECPS is expected to further position DMU as a leading contributor to the UAE’s evolving healthcare and pharmacy landscape.
DMU College of Pharmacy looks forward to the upcoming formal signing of the MoU and to an impactful partnership that will enrich the academic environment, empower future clinical pharmacists, and advance patient-centered care across the nation.
