Dubai Medical University (DMU), through its College of Pharmacy, successfully led an interprofessional community engagement event dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness at Dubai Medical University Hospital (DMUH). The event underscored the university’s commitment to health education, preventive care, and community involvement in promoting early detection and women’s health.
Organized under the theme “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters”, the initiative was spearheaded by the DMU-IVPN Student Club and the DMU-IPSF Student Club, in collaboration with faculty members and students from the College of Nursing and College of Medicine. The program brought together students, healthcare professionals, and members of the community for an informative and interactive day of learning and awareness.
The event commenced with an Awareness Presentation at the DMUH Lecture Hall, offering a concise educational session on breast cancer causes, risk factors, early signs, preventive measures, and self-examination techniques.
Following the presentation, participants engaged in the Protect & Detect Demonstration, an activity designed in a case study format to encourage practical learning. This session provided hands-on experience and interactive discussions on breast self-examination and the importance of early detection in saving lives.
Adding an element of fun and friendly competition, attendees participated in the Spin the Wheel (Fact or Myth) game — a quiz-based activity that tested participants’ knowledge about breast cancer, debunking common myths and reinforcing accurate information about prevention and care. The day concluded with the Cup Stack Challenge, where teams worked together to build the tallest pink cup tower, symbolizing unity, awareness, and collective action against breast cancer.
