
On October 23, 2025 – The College of Pharmacy at Dubai Medical University (DMU) is pleased to announce the successful thesis defense of Gharisa Alsuwaidi, MPharm (Clinical Pharmacy) candidate.
Her thesis, titled “Effectiveness and Safety of Combination Antihypertensive Therapy,” explored the clinical outcomes and safety profiles of combination therapy in the management of hypertension. The research contributes to optimizing therapeutic strategies for improved patient outcomes in cardiovascular disease management.
Gharisa, was supervised by Dr. Semira Beshir and Dr. Doaa AlKhalidi. Her thesis was examined by Prof. Mirza Baig (Internal Examiner) and Dr. Ahmed Abuelhana, BPharm, PgDip, MSc, PhD, FHEA, PSPharmS, BSAC; Programme Director, MPharm (Hons); Co-Director, Centre for International Health Innovation & Partnerships (CIHIP); Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice, UK (External Examiner).

On October 23, 2025 – The College of Pharmacy at Dubai Medical University (DMU) proudly announces the successful thesis defense of Bashayer Raed Awlaqi, MPharm (Clinical Pharmacy) candidate.
Her thesis, titled “Trend of Antibiotic Use in Pediatric Outpatient Clinics and Pharmacy: A Retrospective Study,” examined prescribing patterns and utilization trends of antibiotics in pediatric outpatient settings. The study highlights the importance of antimicrobial stewardship and supports evidence-based interventions to promote rational antibiotic use in children.
Bashayer, was supervised by Dr. Semira Beshir and Prof. Kishore Gnana Sam. Her thesis was examined by Prof. Mirza Baig (Internal Examiner) and Dr. Ahmed Abuelhana, BPharm, PgDip, MSc, PhD, FHEA, PSPharmS, BSAC; Programme Director, MPharm (Hons); Co-Director, Centre for International Health Innovation & Partnerships (CIHIP); Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice, UK (External Examiner).
