Dubai Medical University (DMU), in collaboration with the International Association of Student Surgical Societies (IASSMS), successfully hosted the Basic Surgical Skills Bootcamp on 23 November 2025 at the DMU Simulation Center.

The workshop brought together 30 medical students from across the UAE, including participants from Ajman University, RAK University, Sharjah University, along with 14 DMU students, creating a dynamic and collaborative learning environment.

Designed to enhance essential clinical competencies, the bootcamp provided intensive hands-on training in fundamental surgical techniques. The initiative aimed to bridge theoretical understanding with practical application, empowering students as they progress from “insight to incision.” The workshop proved highly impactful, with students gaining confidence, technical proficiency, and a deeper appreciation for surgical practice. The event also strengthened DMU’s ongoing commitment to high-quality clinical training and fostered promising collaboration with IASSMS, contributing to the holistic professional development of future healthcare practitioners.
