
Dr. Hanan Anbar, Associate Professor at the College of Pharmacy, Dubai Medical University (DMU), has been awarded the Best Poster Prize in Neuropharmacology at the Pharmacology 2025 Conference, organized by the British Pharmacological Society (BPS), one of the world’s largest and most prestigious societies in pharmacology. The conference was held in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK, from 16–18 December.
Dr. Anbar presented a poster on Alzheimer’s disease focusing on drug repositioning of promising compounds, one of which has progressed to Phase II clinical trials for treatment of non-hormone-dependent breast cancer. This work includes outstanding undergraduate students from DMU who played a key role in this research. From the College of Pharmacy, Rim Jaber, Maryam Elnazier, Tasneem Zarzour, and Rahma Nasir, alongside Sana Ahmed and Rokia Malahifci from the College of Medicine, with the great support from Dr. Valia Khoder, Research Associate at DMU Research Center. This big study was also conducted in collaboration with national and international institutions, including the University of Oxford, Gulf Medical University, the University of Sharjah, and Mansoura University.
This achievement reflects the high standard of research at Dubai Medical University, the high caliber of its undergraduate students, and the quality of faculty supervision that elevates student projects to presentation at top-tier international conferences.
