DMU College of Pharmacy Faculty Appointed as Board Member of the African Phytomedicine Scientific Society

Dubai Medical University is pleased to announce  that Dr. Naglaa Saad, Associate Professor and Assistant Dean- Quality & Accreditation College of Pharmacy, has been appointed as a Board Member of the African Phytomedicine Scientific Society (APSS).
The African Phytomedicine Scientific Society (APSS) is a scientific community that aims to stimulate and facilitate the interaction of African researchers in the field of medicinal plant science. Its mission is to foster the scientific development of the continent in ethnopharmacology and natural products research, while also promoting collaboration, resource sharing, and professional exchange among its members. The society provides a dynamic platform for sharing relevant scientific opportunities, announcing international events, and advancing partnerships in laboratory research and technology acquisition.
APSS held its 1st Annual International Congress under the theme “Inspired by Mother Nature: Pharmaceuticals and Cosmeceuticals” on 9–10 November 2023 at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Dr. Saad was honored with the Best Oral Presentation Award at this congress.
Most recently, APSS had its second congress jointly with the 23rd International Congress of the International Society for Ethnopharmacology (ISE), held from 23–26 October 2024 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, South Africa. Dr. Saad served as a member of the Scientific Committee and delivered an oral presentation, showcasing her recent research in the field of drug discovery from natural products.
Dr. Saad’s appointment to the APSS Board is a vital step in her contributions to natural products research and integrative medicine. Her role will strengthen collaboration between the UAE and African and international scientific communities, advancing shared goals in herbal medicine, ethnopharmacology, and innovative therapeutic discovery.
Dubai Medical University extends its congratulations to Dr. Naglaa Saad on this recognition and looks forward to her continued impact on global phytomedicine research.
