On August 21, 2025 – The College of Pharmacy at DMU announces the successful thesis defense of Brooklyn Pereira Carvalho, MPharm (Clinical Pharmacy) candidate. Her thesis, titled “Identifying and Measuring the Frequency and Clinical Significance of Potential Drug-Drug Interactions in Intensive Care Unit Patients and their Impact on Medication Safety in a UAE Tertiary Care Hospital,” focused on identifying risks associated with polypharmacy in critical care and emphasized the role of clinical pharmacists in improving medication safety. The viva featured valuable insights and academic engagement.
Brooklyn was supervised by Dr. Semira Beshir, Dr. Rizah Anwar Assadi and Dr. Waqar Ahmed. Here thesis was examined by Prof. Kishore Gnana Sam (Internal Examiner) and Prof. Mudassar Arain, PhD, PharmD (External Examiner, Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Research Program, College of Health and Human Services, University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), USA). DMU congratulates Brooklyn on her academic achievement.
On August 21, 2025 – The College of Pharmacy announces the successful thesis defense of Amal Ahmed Hassan, MPharm (Clinical Pharmacy) candidate. Her research, titled “Cross-sectional Survey to Assess Primary School Teachers’ Experience, Knowledge of ADHD, and its Management in the UAE,” investigated the preparedness of teachers in understanding and managing Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder among students.
The viva featured insightful academic discussion and highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between education and healthcare. Amal was supervised by Dr. Semira Beshir and Dr. Ammar and examined by Prof. Kishore Gnana Sam (Internal Examiner) and Prof. Mudassar Arain, PhD, PharmD (External Examiner, Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Research Program, College of Health and Human Services, University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), USA). DMU congratulates Amal on her academic success and her contribution to raising awareness of ADHD management within the UAE education system.
