On August 28, 2025 – The College of Pharmacy at DMU announces the successful thesis defense of Ms. Alaa Abdulla Ibrahim Ockba, MPharm (Clinical Pharmacy) candidate. Her thesis, titled "Evaluation of Linezolid-Induced Hematological Adverse Reactions: A Retrospective Study," investigated the occurrence and clinical implications of hematological toxicities associated with linezolid therapy. The study provides important insights into patient safety and underscores the critical role of clinical pharmacists in monitoring and managing adverse drug reactions.
Ms. Alaa was supervised by Dr. Semira Beshir, with co-supervision from Dr. Dujanah Hamed and Dr. Eiman El Gilani. Her thesis defense was examined by Dr. Doaa Al Khalidi (Internal Examiner) and Dr. Syed Shahzad Hasan, PhD (External Examiner, Postgraduate Course Leader [MSc Clinical Pharmacy Practice], Senior Research Fellow in Pharmacy Practice, Department of Pharmacy, University of Huddersfield, UK).
