College of Pharmacy at Dubai Medical University Demonstrates Strong Engagement in the 9th Regional Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Pharmacy Education

The College of Pharmacy at Dubai Medical University (DMU) demonstrated strong academic engagement and leadership through active participation in the 9th Regional Pharmacy Faculty Development Workshop, entitled “Artificial Intelligence in Pharmacy Education.” The two-day workshop was held on January 16–17, 2026, at Ajman University – College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, in partnership with the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), The Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR)

Faculty members from both the Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences Departments at DMU attended the workshop, which brought together educators and leaders from across the region and internationally. The event featured impactful dialogue, collaborative learning, and hands-on activities focused on the evolving role of artificial intelligence (AI) in pharmacy education. Sessions addressed ethical principles, personalized learning, assessment analytics, clinical education, administrative efficiency, and legal and regulatory considerations, delivered by distinguished speakers from ACPE and leading pharmacy schools in the United States.

In addition to participation, DMU faculty made notable scholarly contributions to the workshop:

  • Dr. Naglaa Saad, Assistant Dean for Quality and Accreditation, College of Pharmacy, DMU, delivered an oral presentation titled “AI-Driven CQI Intelligence Hub: A Model for Transforming Assessment Analytics.” Her presentation showcased an innovative and ethical framework that leverages artificial intelligence to integrate multi-modal assessment data and generate actionable insights for continuous quality improvement (CQI). The model emphasized the responsible use of AI to enhance faculty decision-making while maintaining academic oversight, data integrity, and accreditation readiness.
  • Dr. Rana Sammour, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, DMU College of Pharmacy, presented a poster entitled “Enhancing Student Engagement and Learning Outcomes: A Showcase of Interactive Learning in Pharmacy Education.” The poster highlighted DMU’s experience in transitioning from traditional lecture-based teaching to interactive and technology-enhanced strategies, including the use of digital and AI-driven tools, and demonstrated their positive impact on student engagement and learning outcomes in undergraduate pharmacy courses.
  • Dr. Hanan Anbar, Associate Dean for Research, DMU College of Pharmacy, presented a poster focusing on the role of artificial intelligence in pharmacy education and research, with particular emphasis on effective and ethical integration. Her work explored AI applications for instructors and students—such as personalized learning, assessment, feedback, and virtual tutoring—as well as research-related uses including literature review, manuscript editing, and grant-writing support. The poster also addressed opportunities, risks, and key challenges, underscoring the importance of clear ethical boundaries and responsible AI use.

DMU’s active involvement in this regional workshop reflects the College of Pharmacy’s continued commitment to educational innovation, quality assurance, and responsible integration of emerging technologies.
