The Career Guidance and Alumni Office at the College of Medicine was pleased to host an insightful session titled Choosing Your Medical Specialty: A Practical Guide for Future Doctors, delivered by our esteemed DMU COM alumna, Dr. Hind Alhalyan. The session provided a comprehensive overview of various medical specialties and residency pathway, guiding students on how to choose a specialty aligned with their interests, strengths, and long-term goals.

Dr. Hind shared valuable insights on lifestyle considerations and work-life balance as a Surgery resident with a strong focus to the Canadian residency pathway. She also offered practical tips on building a strong portfolio early in medical school. A special segment on Women in Surgery highlighted opportunities, challenges, and empowerment within the field. The session also served as a meaningful platform to strengthen alumni-student engagement and mentorship.
