Doctor of Medicine Program (MD) Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) AY 2026/2027



The duration of the program is six years for high school graduates and four years for applicants who have completed a bachelor degree in a health science related program.

College of Medicine plans to offer 120 students for the MD six-year program and 10 students for MD four-year program.

Applications to the College of Medicine can only be submitted through our online application portal https://admissions.dmu.ae/. The online application to the program opens on 12th January 2026 and closes on Friday 26th June, 2026. Late applications received after the deadline will not be considered. For your application to be complete, you will need to submit the online application, upload all supporting documents, and pay the non-refundable application fee of AED 1050 (AED 1000 + 5% VAT).

  • For applicants who’s medium of instruction in previous degrees was not English:
    • IELTS score of 6.0 or above,
      OR
    • TOEFL iBT score of 79 or above,
      OR
    • Academic IELTS with a minimum Band of 5.5
  • Exemption from English proficiency requirement may be granted if prior education was in English

For IELTS and TOEFL results need to be valid as per the date of submitting the application.
Note: No English Language requirement for students completing High School in a curriculum taught in English Language

Yes, you can reapply. However, you need to submit a new application to be considered among the new applicants. Please send an email to admission@dmu.ae to check eligibility before you submit the application

There is no scholarship for the students joining the Doctor of Medicine 4 year program.

Yes, we have a female only hostel that is managed by DMU which is across the road from the campus. The cost is additional to the annual tuition fee Hostel Facilities - Dubai Medical University

Yes, international applicants who are accepted and enrolled at Dubai Medical University (DMU) may apply for a UAE residency visa through the university.

Please note the following important steps and requirements:
Firstly, the applicant must enter the UAE on a visit visa.
Secondly, when requesting a UAE residency visa through DMU, students are required to submit attested academic certificates.

The certificates must be attested by the following authorities:

  • Education Authority in the home country
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the home country
  • Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in the home country or the Embassy of the issuing country in the UAE
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates

Only fully attested documents will be accepted for residency visa processing.

Yes, medical insurance is mandatory for all students enrolled at DMU.

  • For students holding a DMU-sponsored residency visa, medical insurance is required for visa issuance. The basic medical insurance cost is additional to the visa service charges, and an amount of approximately AED 1000 is applicable. Actual amount will be shared upon confirmation from the Medical Insurance company.
  • For students who are not under DMU visa sponsorship, medical insurance is also required. Students must either have their own valid medical insurance or, if they do not have one, they are required to apply for the medical insurance offered by DMU. The basic medical insurance cost is additional to the tuition fee and an amount of approximately AED 1000 is applicable. Actual amount will be shared upon confirmation from the Medical Insurance company.

Log into the admission portal https://admissions.dmu.ae/ with your email id and password to check your status. Below is explanation of each status
Submitted: Application is submitted and being reviewed by DMU
Screened In: Application is complete, and you will be invited for Placement exam and MMI.
Screened Out: Applicant is not eligible to join the MD program. If interested the application can be reviewed for other DMU programs.
Invited for an Interview and Placement Exam: you will receive an email with MMI and Exam date, time and location.
Conditional Admission: you are eligible to join once you submit all required admission documents.
Waitlisted: You are on a wait list and will be contacted once a place is available..
Regret: You didn’t meet our admission requirements and hence we are not able to offer you admission for the MD Program. If interested the application can be reviewed for other DMU programs.

The ranking of applicants will be based on the average of the Diagnostic Exam and Multiple Mini Interviews.

Applicants who completed High School or a Bachelor degree outside the UAE must have their certificates and transcripts / mark sheets attested by:

  • The issuing educational institute and / or recognized authority for education in the country in which you completed your education.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the country where you completed the degree.
  • The UAE Embassy in that country
  • The Ministry of Education in the UAE
  • Additionally, the UAE Ministry of Education must issue an Equivalency Certificate.
  • Equivalency Certificate from the Ministry of Education (MOE) for international applicants with certificates issued outside the UAE https://www.moe.gov.ae/en/eservices/servicecard/pages/certequivalent-out.aspx
  • Certificate of Recognition from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) for Bachelor degree for international applicants with certificates issued outside the UAE https://www.mohesr.gov.ae/En/EServices/Pages/ServiceCatalog.aspx
