Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) – MD Program Admissions
The Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) is a structured interview process used in admissions to the MD program to assess professional and personal competencies essential for success in medical training and professional practice.
Unlike traditional interviews, the MMI consists of a series of short, focused stations designed to evaluate candidates across a range of scenarios. This approach helps ensure fairness, reliability, and objectivity by minimizing individual interviewer bias and allowing candidates multiple opportunities to demonstrate their strengths.
Competencies Assessed
The MMI assesses the following competencies:
- Interpersonal skills
- Communication skills
- Reasoning skills for ethical dilemmas
- Critical thinking skills
- Awareness of self and society
- Compassion
- Conflict resolution
These competencies complement academic performance and reflect attributes expected of future physicians.

Structure of the MMI
The MMI includes a combination of live interaction stations and written response stations.
- Live stations: May involve discussion or role-play.
- Written stations: Assess reflection and ethical reasoning.
All stations are assessed independently by trained examiners using standardized scoring rubrics.
