Faculty Development Session Highlights Advancements in Pharmacy Education and Research

Dubai Medical University College of Pharmacy organized an engaging Faculty Development Session led by Prof. Ahmed Awaisu, Professor and Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Practice at Qatar University.

In his presentation titled “Advancing Pharmacy Education, Research, and Practice – A Tale of Success Story from Qatar University,” Prof. Awaisu discussed the evolving landscape of pharmacy education and the growing integration of research and clinical practice in shaping future pharmacists.

He emphasized the importance of competency-based education, experiential learning, and interprofessional collaboration in preparing graduates for patient-centered care. Innovative teaching methods such as case-based learning, simulation, and structured research training were highlighted as key tools for fostering critical thinking and professional readiness.

The session was followed by a close meeting with the Department of Pharmacy Practice, where the faculty members exchanged experiences and insights on transforming from traditional to integrated, competency-based curricula and enhancing experiential learning programs.
