The College of Pharmacy at Dubai Medical University recently welcomed Dr. Osama Tabbara, President of the IVPN-Network, for an engaging and motivational workshop titled “The Skills & Qualities of Impressive Pharmacists: Raise your Self Awareness.”
The session, attended by both faculty members and pharmacy students, focused on the evolving landscape of pharmacy practice and the critical role of transformational leadership, adaptability, and professionalism in driving the profession forward.
Drawing on his extensive experience as a consultant and pharmacy leader, Dr. Tabbara inspired participants to embrace a mindset of continuous improvement and innovation. He highlighted the challenges facing the modern pharmacist — from increased competition and complex clinical responsibilities to the need for agility in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.
Through his “12 Impressive Habits” framework, Dr. Tabbara guided attendees on key personal and professional traits essential for career growth. These habits included punctuality, communication skills, visibility, engagement, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and time management, among others. Each habit was accompanied by practical self-assessment tools, encouraging participants to reflect on their own professional development.
Dr. Tabbara also emphasized the importance of mentorship, self-awareness, and teamwork, urging students to “become brands of excellence” within the pharmacy profession. His closing message, “Don’t ask when I can be promoted — ask how I can be great and impressive,” resonated strongly with the audience.
