Dubai Medical University – College of Pharmacy Celebrates World Pharmacists Day

On September 24, 2025, The College of Pharmacy at Dubai Medical University (DMU) celebrates the World Pharmacists Day, honoring the vital role of pharmacists in advancing healthcare and improving community well-being.

The program was warmly guided by Ms. Mariam Etri, a 4th-year pharmacy student, who served as the Mistress of Ceremonies.

The event began with a series of heartfelt video messages from physicians and nurses at DMU Hospital and other healthcare professionals across the Emirates. They shared their perspectives on the pharmacist’s indispensable role in ensuring patient-centered care through teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Following this, Prof. Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs and Dean, College of Pharmacy, delivered an inspiring keynote. He encouraged students to become influential and impactful contributors to the healthcare system, emphasizing that the modern pharmacist must move beyond traditional roles to remain indispensable and irreplaceable in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

The celebration also highlighted the successes of DMU alumni, who appeared in video messages sharing their professional journeys and achievements. They spoke about what it means to be a pharmacist and how their education and training enabled them to create meaningful impact in various areas of pharmacy practice.

A highlight of the afternoon was a Regulatory Affairs Competition, organized in collaboration with Professional Regulatory Affairs Consultancy, led by its co-founder and DMU alumna, Dr. Mona Al-Moussli. The competition engaged students in real-world applications of regulatory science while showcasing the dynamic opportunities in this specialized field.

Adding to the cultural richness of the event, a 2nd-year pharmacy student delivered a captivating Arabic poem, celebrating the profession’s profound impact on the health and well-being of society. The heartfelt performance resonated deeply with the audience and underscored the holistic contributions of pharmacists.
The event concluded with enthusiasm, pride, and a renewed sense of purpose among faculty, students, and alumni.
