Dubai Medical University – College of Pharmacy has successfully concluded the Prescribing Skills Assessment (PSA) Training Series for its Pharmacy Practice faculty members.
Conducted from February to April 2025, the series forms part of the College’s ongoing professional development initiatives aimed at enhancing the proficiency in clinical pharmacy education and assessment.
This training series was launched as part of embedding the PSA into the pharmacy curriculum, with the goal of strengthening student competencies in safe and effective prescribing practices.
Faculty members engaged in a series of interactive, case-based, and hands-on sessions covering the eight core domains of the PSA:
1. Prescribing
2. Prescription Review
3. Planning Management
4. Providing Information
5. Calculation Skills
6. Adverse Drug Reactions
7. Drug Monitoring
8. Data Interpretation
These domains represent critical competencies aligned with the international Prescribing Safety Assessment framework and are vital for preparing pharmacy students for real-world clinical practice.

Special thanks to Dr. Rizah Anwar Assadi, PharmD, BCPS , who led and facilitated the implementation of PSA at DMU and played a key role in supporting its integration into the academic framework.
