
The College of Pharmacy at Dubai Medical University (DMU) successfully  conducted a faculty development session on May 21, 2025, titled “Enhancing  Student Engagement and Learning Outcomes: A Showcase of Interactive Learning in  Pharmacy Education.” The event, held in DMU Hall 205, was led by Dr. Rana  Sammour, Assistant Professor at the College of Pharmacy, and was attended by  faculty members from various colleges across the university.
The session focused  on innovative, interactive teaching strategies aimed at enhancing student  engagement beyond traditional lecture-based methods. Dr. Rana showcased  practical, evidence-based approaches she has successfully integrated into her  courses to promote active learning within the pharmacy curriculum. These  methods contribute to creating a more dynamic and inclusive classroom  environment and have been shown to significantly improve students’ academic  performance, increase participation, and elevate overall satisfaction with the  learning experience. This initiative aligns with the vision of Prof. Sherief Khalifa, Vice  Chancellor of Academic Affairs & Dean of the College of Pharmacy, who is a  strong advocate for transforming education through interactive and  student-centered teaching methods. Prof. Sherief has consistently encouraged  faculty to adopt innovative pedagogies that not only enhance academic outcomes  but also promote critical thinking and real-world problem-solving skills among  students.
The event  served as a platform for knowledge sharing and professional growth, reflecting  DMU’s commitment to academic excellence and continuous faculty development.  Faculty participants praised the session for its relevance, practical insights,  and alignment with the university’s strategic goals in advancing health  professions education.
