As the paradigm in medical education shifts from traditional to programmatic assessment models, the emphasis has moved toward providing authentic assessments—those that immerse students in real-life clinical experiences. Such assessments are crucial for delivering ongoing, meaningful feedback on student competence and performance, a cornerstone of the educational process. As a result, Workplace-based assessment is now considered an essential method for continuous and comprehensive student evaluation during clinical training. Dr. Heba Ismail, a Teaching Assistant at Dubai Medical College for Girls, presented DMCG’s experience in implementing workplace-based assessment using Blue at the Bluenotes MENA 2024 Conference hosted by Zayed University. The presentation addressed the expectations met, challenges encountered, and the next steps.
Additionally, it explored how integrating feedback analytics can support data-driven decision-making, enhance competency-based learning, and align assessment practices with broader educational objectives. The presentation offered a roadmap for institutions embracing this transformative shift.
