Dubai Medical University Announces Dr. Shifan Khanday’s Nomination for the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education

Dubai Medical University is proud to announce that Dr. Shifan Khanday, Associate Dean of Research(Acting) and Head of the AI and Smart Education Unit, has been officially nominated by the UAE National Commission for the prestigious UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education).

The UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize, established in 2005 and funded by the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, honors two global laureates each year for outstanding achievements in the application of ICT to improve teaching, learning, and education performance. Laureates are selected by the Director-General of UNESCO based on the recommendation of an independent international jury of experts, and eac receives a monetary award of USD 25,000 along with a diploma during the award ceremony at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

Vice Chancellor Academic’s Prof Sherief Khalifa commented that Dr Shifans  nomination not only affirms her personal dedication to educational innovation but also reflects Dubai Medical University’s ongoing commitment to excellence, leadership, and transformation in the field of digital and AI-powered education.

The final announcement of the UNESCO Prize laureates will be made later this year.
