DMU College of Pharmacy Welcomes Its Newest Faculty Member: Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini

The College of Pharmacy at Dubai Medical University (DMU) is delighted to welcome Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini as its newest faculty member. Dr. El Ouweini joins as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist.

Dr. El Ouweini brings to DMU a wealth of academic, clinical, and research experience. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical pharmacy research with a focus on critical care—a joint program between Gulf Medical University and Washington State University. He is also a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS), completed ASHP-accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency, a certified clinical preceptor, and a licensed clinical pharmacist with credentials from the UAE, Lebanon, and the USA.

Prior to joining DMU, Dr. El Ouweini served as Clinical Lecturer and Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist at Gulf Medical University and Thumbay University Hospital between 2021-2025, and this was preceded by serving as a Clinical Lecturer and Clinical Pharmacist at Lebanese American University Medical Center between 2020-2021. His expertise spans critical care pharmacotherapy, cardiology, infectious diseases, and nephrology, and he has delivered over 50 invited presentations and workshops across international conferences. Dr. El Ouweini has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in the field of pharmacy practice and critical care.

Beyond his academic and clinical achievements, Dr. El Ouweini plays a leading role in the IVPN-Network, where he serves as Chair of the IVPN-Webinars Organizing Committee and Leader of the IVPN-Critical Care Listserv—advancing global collaboration and continuous professional development among pharmacists. He is an active member in several international pharmacy organizations, including ACCP, ASHP, and the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM), where he serves as the Social Media and Digital Lead for the Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy Section.
