Bachelor of Biomedical Science (BBMS) Program Overview
The Bachelor of Biomedical Science (BBMS) at Dubai Medical University (DMU) is a
four-year, CAA-accredited undergraduate degree designed to prepare students for careers
in healthcare, diagnostics, biomedical research, and the life sciences industry.
The program combines a strong foundation in medical and life sciences with advanced
laboratory training. Students gain knowledge in molecular diagnostics, genetics,
bioinformatics, immunology, microbiology, and public health, while developing
practical skills in state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with technologies such as PCR,
ELISA, and automated analyzers. Each core course includes a lab component, ensuring
that theoretical knowledge is reinforced with hands-on training.
The BBMS curriculum is aligned with UAE Professional Qualification Requirements
(PQR), making graduates immediately eligible for licensure as Medical Laboratory
Technologists with MOHAP, DHA, and DOH. In addition, the program prepares students
for international certifications such as ASCPi (USA), HCPC (UK), CSMLS (Canada), and
AIMS (Australia), offering career opportunities both in the UAE and abroad.
Students also benefit from clinical internships, capstone research projects, and
hospital collaborations, which provide exposure to real-world biomedical and healthcare
environments. The program supports academic progression into graduate-entry
medicine, Master’s, and PhD programs, making it a strong foundation for future medical
