Message from the Dean
Nursing is a respected profession with a rich history that values individual care while adapting to new technologies and digital health tools. It focuses on improving patient health, addressing health disparities, engaging with diverse cultures, and promoting tailored care. At its core, nursing advocates for health equity and provides safe, impartial care to all individuals.
Our program prepares competent, confident, and culturally sensitive nurses who can deliver exceptional care and lead within the profession. At DMU, we emphasize interprofessional collaboration with the College of Medicine and Pharmacy to enhance learning and research across healthcare disciplines.
A key focus of our program is caring for the aging population. Through specialized labs, students will learn about effective communication and the healthcare needs of older adults.
Experiential learning opportunities, such as hands-on internships and international clinical experiences, foster students' growth and readiness for the evolving healthcare landscape. Our dedicated faculty supports a smooth transition from education to practice, ensuring future nurses can enhance patient care and champion equity in healthcare.
