DUBAI (April 6, 2026) – Dubai Medical University (DMU) has successfully completed the second round of its Longitudinal Interprofessional Education (IPE) Initiative focusing on Prescribing Skills, a forward-looking program that brings together students from the College of Pharmacy and the College of Medicine to develop the collaborative competencies essential to modern, patient-centered healthcare practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This latest round of the program centered on one of the most clinically significant areas of prescribing safety: Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs). Students from both colleges engaged in a rich, structured learning journey designed to build their skills in identifying, managing, and presenting ADRs \u2014 all within an interprofessional framework that mirrors real-world clinical team dynamics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program was delivered through a carefully designed blended format, incorporating both virtual and in-person components. Virtual sessions allowed students to prepare collaboratively and engage with foundational concepts ahead of the on-campus experience. The in-person sessions, held at DMU’s new campus, served as the culmination of this learning arc \u2014 bringing pharmacy and medical students physically together for interactive, case-based and team-based learning (TBL) exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Longitudinal IPE Initiative reflects DMU’s institutional commitment to preparing graduates who are not only technically proficient but who are equipped to function effectively as members of interprofessional healthcare teams. The program is structured to evolve across multiple rounds, progressively deepening students’ competencies in collaborative practice and prescribing skills training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
