The internship was led by <strong>Dr. Naglaa Saad<\/strong>,  Associate Professor at the College of Pharmacy.<br \/>\n  Designed to merge  traditional healing systems with modern science, the internship offered  students an immersive experience across four major themes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n  <li><strong>AI-Powered       Complementary Medicine<\/strong> <\/li>\n  <li><strong>Herbal       Medicine: From Lab to Market<\/strong> <\/li>\n  <li><strong>Traditional       Chinese Medicine (TCM)<\/strong> <\/li>\n  <li><strong>Foundations       of Homeopathy<\/strong> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p align=\"justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dmu.ae\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/internship_herbal_aug25b.jpg\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"10px\"  \/>The program featured  distinguished guest speakers who enriched the learning experience. <strong>Dr. Li  Haufei<\/strong>, a Chinese UAE-licensed acupuncturist, introduced students to the  history and principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture in the  UAE. <strong>Dr. Mariam Al-Tharaawi<\/strong>, a UAE-licensed pharmacist and Hijama  practitioner, offered in-depth sessions on the practice and therapeutic value  of Hijama. Additionally, <strong>Dr. Shivani Sharma<\/strong>, a UAE-licensed homeopathy  practitioner, provided students with valuable insights into the foundational  principles and clinical applications of homeopathy.<br \/>\n  A key highlight of the  internship was the hands-on, project-based learning model. Students formed <strong>six  interprofessional teams<\/strong>, composed of pharmacy and medicine students, and  collaboratively developed <strong>AI-driven herbal product prototypes <\/strong>in DMU&rsquo;s  laboratories with the guidance of <strong>Dr. Yasmen Yasser<\/strong>. The students&rsquo;  products targeted common health conditions such as <strong><em>H. pylori<\/em> infection, constipation, diarrhea, eczema, hirsutism, and polycystic ovarian  syndrome.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p align=\"justify\">The  program concluded with a <strong>Grande Finale presentation day<\/strong>, where each team  pitched their product prototypes to a distinguished panel comprising <strong>Prof.  Sherief Khalifa<\/strong> (Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs &amp; Dean, College of  Pharmacy), <strong>Engineer Hessa Lootah <\/strong>(Dubai Medical University AI &amp;  Innovation Lead<strong>)<\/strong> and <strong>Dr. Naglaa Saad <\/strong>(Internship Leader), and who  all provided expert feedback on clinical value, formulation, and market  readiness.<br \/>\nSix awards  were presented to recognize outstanding achievements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n  <li><strong>Best Innovation Award<\/strong> <\/li>\n  <li><strong>Best Formulation Award<\/strong> <\/li>\n  <li><strong>Best Branding Award<\/strong> <\/li>\n  <li><strong>Best Clinical Relevance Award<\/strong> <\/li>\n  <li><strong>Most Market-Ready Product       Award<\/strong> <\/li>\n  <li><strong>Best Use of Local Herbs Award<\/strong> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>Prof.  Sherief Khalifa<\/strong> remarked, <em>&ldquo;This initiative reflects our commitment to innovation in healthcare  education.
