The Master in Global & Digital Public Health Leadership (MGDPHL) Leading the Future of Global Health
Welcome to our special preview of the Master in Global and Digital Public Health Leadership at Dubai Medical University. Today, we’re answering the most frequent questions from prospective students to help you decide if this is the right path for your leadership journey.
What sets this program apart is its unique integration of four critical pillars: Leadership and Governance, Global Health Systems, Humanitarian Action, and Digital Public Health (including AI). Benchmarking against top international universities like Harvard and Johns Hopkins shows that no other program currently integrates all four of these specific pillars into a single Master’s degree. It is a purpose-built, interdisciplinary curriculum designed specifically to fill a critical gap in the UAE’s graduate health education landscape.
The program is explicitly aligned with major national and global initiatives, such as UAE Vision 2031 for health modernization and the National AI Strategy 2031. By joining, you are positioning yourself at the forefront of digital transformation, AI ethics, and climate-resilient health systems that are currently top priorities for health authorities and international agencies like the World Health Organization (WHO).
We are looking for the next generation of health system leaders. To be a strong candidate, you should have a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field (such as medicine, nursing, pharmacy, or public health) with a minimum GPA of 3.0. While we prefer candidates with two years of professional experience in health or humanitarian roles, we welcome all dedicated professionals who meet the English proficiency requirements (IELTS 6.5+ or equivalent).
The 30-credit hour MSc curriculum is designed in progressive stages, allowing you to build leadership, policy, humanitarian, and digital public health expertise through stackable modules and advanced applied learning.
● Semester 1 (Leadership & Systems Competencies): You will study Leadership & Change, Governance & Performance, Global Health Systems, and Policy & Global Health Diplomacy. This phase develops core competencies in leadership, governance, health systems analysis, and policy-making.
● Semester 2 (Health Security, AI & Innovation): You will focus on Global Health Security, Humanitarian Systems & IHR, Disaster Medicine & Emergency Preparedness, Digital & AI-Enabled Public Health Systems, and AI Ethics, Governance & Cyber Resilience in Health.
● Semester 3 (Specialization, Practice & Research): You will choose one of two advanced tracks: Health Systems & Policy Track or Digital Health & Global Leadership Track. You will also complete an Applied Internship in AI & Digital Public Health Leadership and a Thesis, enabling you to apply learning to real-world challenges and produce evidence-based solutions.
Not at all. The program uses a blended delivery mode, combining online learning with on-campus (evening and weekends) blocks. We emphasize active and experiential learning. You will participate in simulation exercises for pandemics and humanitarian crises, policy labs where you debate real-world data, and design thinking sprints to prototype health innovations.
The program is designed to meet a verified "workforce gap". Graduates will be equipped to take on leadership roles in:
UAE health authorities (MOHAP, DHA).
International health agencies (WHO, UN agencies, TGF, GAVI, World Bank, etc).
Regional humanitarian organizations (IFRC, NGOs).
Digital health and AI governance sectors, where there is a high demand for leaders who can govern complex ethical and technical systems.
The program is designed with a flexible stackable pathway to suit working professionals and different study schedules. You may complete the full 30-credit hour MSc in three semesters full-time, or progress gradually by taking one credit-bearing micro-credential certificate at a time based on your availability and professional commitments. These stackable certificates can then be accumulated toward the Postgraduate Diploma (20 credit hours) and ultimately the MSc award (30 credit hours).
If you are ready to lead the digital and global health revolution, we invite you to apply. You can find more details on our website or by contacting the Dubai Medical University College of Medicine.
